Isn't It Ironic?

Do you have any idea who John Conyers, Cynthia McKinney, Charles Rangel, Maxine Watters, and Barbara Lee are? I'll bet most of you don't, and that is a shame. These are all BLACK Congressmen who have consistently stood up for your rights and your liberty in the face of the Neocon fascist onslaught. I guess it takes people who have experienced some of the bottom side of our society to realize exactly how bad things could get and how much we have at stake. These are some of the people who knew immediately that the 2000 election was stolen from Al Gore and stood up in the House of Representatives to protest. Apparently they were unaware that the "fix" was in, as no WHITE Senator would second their motion for an investigation. Since then they have continually attempted to throw a stick into the spokes of Cheney et al at every available opportunity. I personally don't care where these fine people stand on most issues, unlike the fanatics out there, but I do know they are on our side on the important ones and we should be extremely grateful for their efforts on our behalf.

WHEN EVER I WATCH FAHRENHEIT 911, AND THE SCENE WITH THE BLACK CONGRESS MEMBERS IN THE SENATE
MAKES ME CRY.
THEY ONLY NEEDED ONE SENATOR TO
SECOND THE RECOUNT OF THAT SHAM OF AN ELECTION.
NOT ONE SENATOR WOULD SECOND THE RECOUNT.
JUST THINK...IF ONE SENATOR WOULD HAVE STOOD UP AND SECONDED THE RECOUNT, BUSH COULD HAVE STAYED IN CRAWFORD FOREVER!!
P.S.
WHERE WAS RUSS FEINGOLD?

you forgot my favorite... Shiela Jackson Lee of Tx. and I agree, it is a shame that more Americans don't know who these people are. Heck, most people don't know who their own Congressperson is.

It's like what happened with New Orleans after Katrina--the African Americans are the Canaries in the coal mine for our society in general. They are the first to suffer the unemployment, lack of healthcare, underfunding of public education, you name it. Cynthia McKinney was the only one to bravely speak out about the dangers of unleashed executive powers prior to the G--D----- Authorization to invade Iraq, and reminded us all of the best advice: Follow the money. For that she was maligned and voted out of office, but thankfully, her constituents brought her back. John Conyers for President! The man is so eloquent and civilized in this dog-eat-dog world of politics. And as a Floridian, I have to stand up for Corrine Brown. She had it right when she told Congress there'd been a coup d'etat with the theft of the elections in 2000. Hopefully, more Americans are waking up!

Kevkev,
I wonder as well, where was Russ? He is surprising sometimes and not always in the good way, but right now he is better than anyone else. Especially when compared to our other Senator, Herb Kohl, who is totally useless. I know this is way out there but all the union guys from MN think Wellstone was taken out as a message to the critics of Bush. Funnier things have happened.

Barbara Lee speaks for me. In2004, afer redistricting had put more republicans in the district, we sent her back with 85% of the vote. Don't forget the rest of the Black Caucus, the Hispanic Caucus and the Progressive Caucus (Barbara is co-chair). Sheila Jackson Lee is awesome.
