Until last night I was seriously considering not renewing my membership in the Democratic Party. That has all changed since having the privilege of hearing, with my own two ears, the best rebuttal yet of the Great Decider's ever expanding litany of lies. James Webb apparently has the courage that is so rare among the new found majority, in that he will tell the unvarnished truth whether it offends or not.

This quality is in desperate short supply, especially among the front runners of the race to 2008. Between Hillary's constant triangulating and Obama's baseless optimism it looked as if the choices were between Tweedledee and Tweedledum. No longer!

For years I have been preaching that the Democrats could combat Bush/Cheney Fascism by just telling the truth well and standing up for what they supposedly believe in, and it has taken 6 years and a former Republican to prove it.

John Kerry-finally a Winner

John "McFly" Kerry has finally reached the point where he can take it no longer and I, for one, am rejoicing.

You see, in the Orwellian fucked up country, a war veteran can be made to look as a coward and a war avoider can slide by as a tough guy. Rich people have convinced the plebian class that whatever is in the wealthy folks best interest is in the rest of our best interest as well. Iraq attacked us, but the suicide pilots were from Saudi Arabia. The stock Market is setting new records, but most people are earning less. Political/religious terrorism scares us silly, but economic terrorism practiced by our Corporate overlords is perfectly acceptable.

The Democrats need to ATTACK these Fascist bastards and never, NEVER apologize for anything. John Kerry may finally get it.

The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth

The last few days have been extremely painful for the community of Nickel Creek, PA where 10 Amish schoolgirls were shot and so far 5 have died-possibly yet more. But an amzing thing has happened. In the midst of this grieving community an overwhelming outpouring of love and forgiveness has been extended to the perpetrator's family from the Amish community. Instead of hatred and revenge the Amish have chosen to actually practice the tenets of their Christian faith in their daily lives. And the test is if you can do this in the middle of dire circumstances.

The Amish have passed the test with flying colors.

Our society often views the Amish as quaint relics of a bygone agrarian era, perfect for taking pictures of to remind us of simpler times and the rustic country life. But there is more to the Amish lifestyle than fake reminicsing about bygone days. They truly live the life that they believe in, at least as well as they can surrounded by our gawking at their differences from our consumer driven society.

The message to the rest of us is to stop listening and emulating the FAKE Christians among us and they are aplenty. Instead watch how the Amish care for each other and their neighbors in time of crisis and compare that lesson to the people who would pontificate about so called moral values. The ones with the TV programs and radio programs and the elected hypocrites who claim they are Christian by mouth but not by deed. They are they ones to be pitied and yet exposed for their lies.

Hillary Clinton is a closet Republican. Together they were part of the best Republican presidency of the last century. While presiding over unprecedented mergers and acquisitions, NATFA, weakened labor law enforcement, and, in general, corporate and big money ass kissing Billy Boy had us thinking he was the man. Unfortunately this hick likes hummers from secret admirers more than he likes thinking about his legacy or more importantly, the future of his Party. Billy had illicit sex, be we ended up getting fucked.
On the other hand, Hillary has her nose so far up the Neocon's ass that she can't or won't see the disaster that is unfolding in Iraq. Always remember that she was a Barry Goldwater Republican. As with that useless piece of shit, Joe Liebermann, she will be right on a few small issues, but will vote with the monied class every time. Hillary will LOSE if she is nominated, unless the Repubs run Mark Foley.

Despite the unqualified support of the American Farm Bureau Federation, the vote to invoke cloture on the Paris Hilton Tax Relief Act failed today. It came perilously close to passing with the support of several bastard Democrats who couldn't bring themselves to vote against their Predator class background or brethren. But, back to the Farm Bureau. This insurance company fronting as a friend of the hardworking American Farmer has continually betrayed their own constituency by supporting any and all of the so called "free" trade agreements, the giant grain companies, the giant seed and chemical companies, and now the richest 1% of the population. The Farm Bureau has always harped about the fact that the Estate Tax caused family farms to be lost between generations as a result of overbearing tax loads. When pressed to provide any examples, the AFBF refused to do so. Because they couldn't.

The AFBF parrots the Republican line 100%. And, as with their support of the last Farm Bills, you can see the overwhelming success throughout Rural America from the number of farmers that are left. Practically none. Yet farmers continue to line up, swallow this rhetorical bullshit like candy, and repeat it like Gospel.

As my Father used to say, "Never underestimate the collective stupidity of the American Farmer." And he was right about that.

Part of my job duties are to travel to small towns throughout the Midwest to train contractors. In my travels my eyes have been opened to the economic conditions present in Rural and Small town America. It isn't very pretty. These small towns and farms are dying. The buildings need paint and shingles if they haven't already fallen down. The schools are losing students and funding. Teachers positions and classes are being eliminated. Many buildings on Main Street are empty. The booming economy hasn't visited here in a hell of a long time.

Isn't it amazing that by combining modern technology, outrageous amounts of borrowed capital, incredible government payments, and some of the best farmland on Earth you can end up with too much corn and soybeans every year-but now you are also ending up with too few people who can make a decent living in these rural places?

The next time you take a trip somewhere, veer off the Interstate for awhile and look with your eyes really opened and see what Rural and Smalltown America really looks like. It looks like 1933-the middle of the Great Depression.

Senator Lasee has been agitating for the Death Penalty again recently and I have a deal for him. You see, tonight I had the opportunity to watch THE CORPORATION DVD and it was eye opening, to say the least. I believe the most egregious act was Bechtel taking over the water rights in Bolivia and forbidding the people from even catching rainwater. Massive protests and several deaths were needed to get this atocity overturned.

I recently read an opinion piece that said the massive debts that are being incurred in this country are being purposely foisted upon us peons to pave the way for privatization of all public services. Keep your Winchester oiled.

Recent polls have reinforced three things I have always believed: 1. A large plurality of the population is functionally brain dead and, 2. Propaganda really is effective, and 3. Giving up believing in Fairy Tales is hard work.
The first poll was conducted by Zogby among soldiers serving in Iraq and the results were horrifying. Over 85% of those polled believed our mission to be over there was to exact revenge for Saddam's involvement in 9=11. I must concede that the military is really good at convincing its ranks to believe its bullshit, hook, line, and sinker. And who in the Armed Forces is going to disagree?

The second poll concluded that 39% of the United States adult population still believes that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. He must have secretly exploded them and the radiation silently killed off their brain cells.

The people who really amaze me are the so called intelligent types who still defend the ineptness of these hooligans (it is St. Patricks day). They must have so much personal investment tied up in BushCo that they just can't bring themselves to admit they've been used like a 5 dollar hooker and thrown from the moving car after the blow job.

I can understand the Predator Class supporting Bush/Cheney as their policies are tailor made to further enrich the parasites at the top. But for the rest, I am totally flummoxed.

A crowd of 400 Republican cocksuckers paid 500 dollars a plate to hear the lies spew forth from this asshole.

Recent polls have given George Bush an approval rating of between 34 and 38%. If you subtract the 10% of the population making up the Predator Class, that leaves you with about 25% of the voting populace of the United States that is criminally stupid. Apparently they don't believe their lying eyes, but choose instead to believe Scott McClellan, Dick Cheney, Jack Abramoff, Tom Delay, Ken Lay, Duke Cunningham, Michael Brown, Condi Rice, Don Rumsfeld, Colin Powell, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, and a host of other pathological liars and criminals. I made the serious mistake of watching Fox News Sunday this morning. Maybe it was divine intervention, maybe I was too lazy to retrieve the channel changer. But it turned out to a great learning experience nonetheless. The panel consists of Chris Wallace who pretends to be human, hapless Juan Williams who studders and stammers as the predictable left wing victim (similar to Alan Colmes on Hannity and Colmes), William Kristol, editor of the Weekly Standard which is a Neocon rag read by about 20 people, and then a so-called neutral member, oft times Mara Liason who agrees with the Fox line 90% of the time. The last member of this pitiful charade is pasty faced Brit Hume who faithfully parrots the Bush Administration lies. It is hard to tell if Brit is paid off or just doesn't have an original thought in his Swiss cheese filled melon. His total lack of expression, his automatic responses to every issue, and his total obedience to the White House line lead me to think something is rotten in Denmark. Amazingly, even Bill Kristol has reservations about the incompetence of Bush and company. But not Brit, no way in hell will he admit these morons and corporate lackeys have stumbled. What a Zombie!

Squeal Like a Pig

Several left wing pundits have been praising "Heck-of-a-job Brownie" Michael Brown for his excoriating GW and Michael Chertoff this past week. Praise is not warranted. Brownie is just another political appointee who had no qualifications for the job he was thrust into and got caught with his pants down when confronted with Hurricane Katrina. It is no surprise that he became the scapegoat for this disaster and he, least of all, should have been surprised. It is always amazing to see cornered rats turn on each other and this is a classic example. No doubt Chertoff will walk the plank next if the embarassment to the administration is too great. But back to Brownie. He suddenly found himself as one of the most despised individuals in the country and apparently didn't like the predicament his superiors put him in. His refusal to fall on his sword and take one for the team is not admirable, it is merely self-preservation of another rat. But it sure is fun to watch!

Getting rid of Bush doesn't look so attractive anymore, does it? With the exception of Senator Byrd, who is an expert in Constitutional Law, the rest are certainly a motley crew indeed. I would venture to guess that Bush is safe for the time being.

The Penalty for Being Poor

My Father had a favorite saying when I was young. It was "Interest is the penalty you pay for being poor". At that age I thought it was just a dumb hick farmer kind of statement, but now that I have a few miles under my belt I realize that the Old Man knew exactly what he was talking about. Here's a little lesson in economics: Rich people collect interest-Poor people pay interest. It's just that simple. And believe me, its a lot better to be collecting than to be paying.

If you'll notice the Federal Reserve has raised short term interest rates significantly in the last year and a half in an attempt to control inflation. Now from our little economics lesson above, who pays interest? You're Right! Poor people! Who will bear the brunt of not only higher prices, but higher interest rates on borrowed money? You're Right Again! Poor people! See a pattern developing here? In a pure Capitalist society the lower end that has no capital will bear the brunt of the pain every time. Class Dismissed.

George Bush: Corporate Whore For The Ages

The ongoing flap over the sale of the operation of 6 major U.S. ports is, as usual, just a smokescreen covering up a deeper issue that needs to be discussed. What this all boils down to is "corporate free trade". Those three words should always be spoken together. The beneficiary of free trade has been the Predator class, as always. It has been sold on the trickle down economic theory that rewards people (mostly institutions) that have capital to shift all over the Earth looking for opportunities to exploit. Always tied to these opportunities are the ability to take advantage of lax regulations in regards to worker and environmental safety in many countries.

Corporations are the ultimate predator. They exist only to extract as much profit as possible which means playing by the rules becomes expensive, and therefore must be avoided. Selling the right to operate our ports to Dubai Ports World is a bad idea, if for no other reason than they don't give a rat's ass about port security. You probably don't know that the United States is in the middle of negotiations with the United Arab Emirates to establish a Free Trade Zone between the two countries. And THIS is the reason for George's all or nothing stand for the deal. He cannot bring himself to buck the corporate agenda. And he never will. As for all the politicians who are bravely opposing this sale, the perfect test will be to see if they still oppose it when their corporate sugar daddies put the squeeze on them. They will get back in line in no time, however, they will be able to air their short lived opposition in ads during the next campaign cycle.

The moral of this story is that corporations have become their own masters. The WTO and Free Trade agreements are their license to plunder worldwide. Governments need to protect citizens from corporations, not be a party with them. George Bush is just another in a long line of corporate whores. Unfortunately, John Kerry is one too.

Simmering (Just Under the Surface)

When I was a young adult a retired farmer moved next door to our property. We'll call him Albert. Albert was as good a neighbor as you could possibly ask for. He would assist in any and all ways possible to attempt to help another neighbor. But Albert had a darkside that only came out once in a while, when he was feeling poorly or under stress. While Albert was German and Protestant, he despised unions, blacks, Democrats, Catholics, French, and Irish people just to name a few. Absolutely and totally despised them all. Albert was quite good at hiding this anger until you really got to know him and he trusted you.

I find today that most Republicans have this same personality trait. They despise anyone that they perceive on a lower social or financial rung of the ladder. They have this simmering anger towards the people below themselves, only now it is barely hidden. You will see it in their interactions with the bottom end, the waiters and waitresses, housekeepers, gardeners, etc. They disdain these people who clean their toilets and take care of their parents in the old folks home. They consider these occupations an inconvenience that, unfortunately, must dealt with because they are too damn busy making more money doing something else.

Dick Cheney and George Bush despise you because you are lower on the ladder than they are and they simply tolerate your existence because they must. Keep this in mind whenever they utter their bullshit. It is only condescention on their part. They would just as soon that you were dead.

The Politics of Blameshifting or Shit Flows Downhill

More hours at work, more responsibility, less pay, less vacation. He is pissed off. Rush is a favorite, with Sean Hannity, and for dessert a little Michael Savage. These shit for brains multi-millionaire assholes have their program in place, I'll give them that much. After all this time I have finally figured out how it works. Shift the blame!!! Do you have any idea who John Conyers, Cynthia McKinney, Charles Rangel, Maxine Watters, and Barbara Lee are? I'll bet most of you don't, and that is a shame. These are all BLACK Congressmen who have consistently stood up for your rights and your liberty in the face of the Neocon fascist onslaught. I guess it takes people who have experienced some of the bottom side of our society to realize exactly how bad things could get and how much we have at stake. These are some of the people who knew immediately that the 2000 election was stolen from Al Gore and stood up in the House of Representatives to protest. Apparently they were unaware that the "fix" was in, as no WHITE Senator would second their motion for an investigation. Since then they have continually attempted to throw a stick into the spokes of Cheney et al at every available opportunity. I personally don't care where these fine people stand on most issues, unlike the fanatics out there, but I do know they are on our side on the important ones and we should be extremely grateful for their efforts on our behalf.

All Star Wrestling on Wheels

When I was a lot younger (about 40 years ag0) I always kept track of a race car driver named Richard Petty. He drove Plymouths, just like my Dad always did, and he was a really good race car driver. Richard went on to become the unofficial "King" of NASCAR. In those days stock car racing was a lot different than now. The cars actually had bodies just like the one you could buy from the local dealer. The engine was even close to the same that you could buy, if you didn't care about gas mileage much. The neat thing about NASCAR racing at that time is that it actually improved the engineering of cars you could actually buy. Additionally, a Plymouth, or a Dodge, or a Ford, or a Mercury could easily be identified by just the shape of the car.

Today is the 48th anniversary of the NASCAR Daytona 500. Somewhere along the way NASCAR morphed into big, big business. It is now a corporate cash cow that has little if anything to do with much of anything useful, other than to separate the fans from their money and to provide an additional advertising platform for Corporate America. The "cars" are indistinguishable from one another, yet for fan enthusiasm sake they are labeled as Ford, Dodge, or Chevrolet. You can't go down to the local dealer and buy something that even closely resembles a Nextel Cup car. In a way NASCAR is a microcosm of what is happening in Red State America. Race fans are ready to fist fight (really) over Ford or Chevy or Dodge fake cars that they somehow believe they have some connection to. Again, these are fake cars. Just like the phonies who have filled their heads with fake patriotism, fake Christianity, and fake economics, NASCAR fills their head with fake loyalty to brand names while separating them from their hard earned dollars. At least NASCAR doesn't send their kids to war.

You know, we would all, deep down, really want to like John McCain. An American War Hero who survived the terrible torture of North Viet Nam's infamous POW camps. But like Randy Cunningham proved recently, just being a war hero doesn't mean you get a blank check for stupidity or political hijinx. McCain's big stand against torture was a hollow shell as the final version of the bill allows almost anything. McCain showed much more resolve in his years in the torture camps than he did against Bush's sleazy campaign tactics that torpedoed his candidacy in 2000. He now supports the Neo-Con agenda 95% of the time. He continues to be a vocal cheerleader for the war in Iraq. Mark my words, either John McCain will become a full fledged Neo-Con or they will find someone else who is. Is this why John is kissing Bush's ass at every available opportunity? Bottom line: This is just another dangerous Republican asshole. He is in the same vein as Chuck Hagel from Nebraska. Just enough rhetoric to make you think they are human, but then they support the Fascists every time with their silent acceptance and their votes. Do not be deceived!

We have all been subjected to a dangerous myth the last couple days. That myth being circulated in the media is that Harry Whittington is the victim of Dick Cheney's errant gunshot. This is false in two ways: 1. We are ALL victims of this sneering prick and 2. There is nothing errant about it. We are receiving exactly what what we deserve from someone who lies blatantly, constantly, and repeatedly, and nobody has the balls to call him on it. In a real debate there are many Democratic opponents who could tear this guy apart intellectually-it just will never happen. Are they afraid of the repercussions? Are our supposed liberal friends bought off, stupid, or scared? Even David Obey (D-WI) defended Cheney this morning. What is the matter with you Democrats? An American Hero

Paul Hackett announced his withdrawl from the Ohio Senate race this morning. This is truly a blow to the democratic process in this country. We are sorely lacking candidates who are unbeholden to anybody and tell it exactly how they feel it. Paul would have been a loner in the Senate (our version of the House of Lords) similar to the other Paul we have missed so badly these past years. The Democratic Party movers and shakers won and I really wonder where Howard Dean came down on this. Hackett also promised other candidates that he would not run for his House seat, so he honored his word and has refused to do so. Paul was one of the few rays of light to come out of the political process recently and we are all the worse off for him leaving the Senate race. Hopefully this is not the last we will hear from this true American Hero. May the sun be overhead and the wind be at your back always, Paul.

Last week John Kerry e-mailed his intentions to mount a filibuster against Sammy Alito from Davos. Davos is a plush resort in Switzerland where none of you will ever be able to afford to go. It is the kind of place that no real Democrat would be caught dead at. The reason John Kerry was at Davos is that every year there is a sort of summit by the worlds movers and shakers to determine just how hard they can apply the screws to you before you start shooting some of their fat asses. John Kerry and his wealthy wife (sometimes Republican, sometimes Democrat, whichever works out best for her) were invited to participate. Hence the inability to filibuster in person. NEWSFLASH! It never was intended to be a serious attempt to keep Alito off the Supreme Court. John Kerry is a fucking weasel, as are many of his fellow Democrats. He is a tool for the wealthy and powerful. Sammy Alito is not to be feared for his stand on abortion so much as for his stand in favor of the elite at every possible opportunity. The Democrats are Bush's enablers. We revere our football, baseball, basketball, and hockey stars. NASCAR drivers are next to God.
